포이트레스 박사 오류 인정 발표문

웨민에서 신약과 조직신학을 가르치시는 포이트레스박사가 자신의 책 Interpreting Eden에서 Oliver Hersey 박사의 미출간 원고로부터 얻은 개념을 서술하면서 해당 원고의 출처를 제대로 밝히지 않은 점에 대해서, 즉각 인정하고 용서를 구하며, 용서받고, 다음 쇄에 이 부분을 명확히 밝히기로 하였다는 소식이 방금 들어왔다. 포이트레스 박사가 자신의 학자적 양심, 그리스도인으로서의 정체성을 이번 사건을 통해서 분명하게 보여준듯 하다. Frame의 제자이자 동역자로서도 그는 손색이 없다. 아마도 이책은 한글판이 "창조에서 에덴까지"로 나온듯 하다.

Corrections to Interpreting Eden
Dr. Oliver Hersey graciously brought to my attention that in my book Interpreting Eden I failed to credit him adequately for original ideas of his that helped me in thinking through the issues and in writing some pieces in the book. I have asked and received forgiveness from him. I have also made corrections to the book, which will appear in a new printing. Dr. Hersey and I are reconciled in Christ, and I rejoice in the work of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has provided reconciliation.

I addressed the fact that Dr. Vern Poythress incorporated my ideas into his book Interpreting Eden without properly citing my manuscript and he, without hesitation, acknowledged his errors. In a spirit of grace and transparency, we spoke about the matter and have reconciled at a personal level. Dr. Vern Poythress has humbly agreed to provide adequate citation of my unpublished manuscript where it is needed in Interpreting Eden and the work will be reprinted.
